Colorado Intimate Portraits | L

Upon seeing Nicole’s art a few years ago, I knew instantly that I wanted to work for her. But, I never felt that I had the “right body type” or “looked the part” or was “good enough” to be photographed. Even to the point I attempted to apply for the Ambassador program last year, and ended up not turning it in, because it requested pictures–including a full body photo, and I panicked.

Then 40 hit, and it was the first time I wanted to take control of my life. Have the adventures I wanted to have, and have people see me exactly for who I am. The hashtag I have been using is #fuckit40 because the only opinion that matters is my own. Did this make me any less scared to get in front of the camera? Of COURSE not. But, I’m so glad I did.

Nicole has a way of just working through your nervousness, making sure you are having fun, and just owning yourself. To the point of giving outfit advice (that I greatly needed), helping me feel confident where I am, and empowered by this shoot. Did I still have body issues? Yes. It’s a continual healing process to feel the fear and do it anyway–especially surrounded by other amazing women just able to be themselves. But, there is something to be said about being surrounded by gorgeous new friends that hype you as well!

I LOVE how this shoot turned out. I was confident, I told myself to not pick myself apart, and I was confident enough to share some of the photos with some friends who were excited for me to do this for myself. I am so thankful I was able to be a part of this, and honestly love myself through all of it.
Please, take it from me, this is worth it. Choosing to do a shoot–especially for yourself–is worth it. And, why NOT be a part of this beautiful art!
