INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY 2020
I woke up feeling a little tired, really nervous, and SUPER excited this international women’s day. From shooting with Nicole at Jenise’s studio, to hosting our March 8th pop-up event at a female owned event space, the whole day felt like a magical celebration of what it means to be female.
Nicole has done such an extraordinary job of creating a community that celebrates all femaleness and community, that empowers women and boldly demands that women give themselves and each other the love and kindness they deserve.
I started the day with my own shoot with Nicole, which snapped me into such a fun and light place despite everything else going on in my life, and I enjoyed this shoot just as much as all the others. This is my 5th shoot with Nicole and not once have they felt mundane or “ordinary.” In fact each shoot brings a different learning experience, a different joy, and a deeper connection with Nicole and the community she’s created!
And now, in such a hard time all across the world, these photos remind me of life just a couple weeks ago when things were so normal, and fun. They remind me that community, supporting each other, and lifting each other up is how we are going to survive this whole thing. That having those connections and experiences with women who build you up are key to our survival, and eventually our thriving once again. These photos remind me that through this, lounging in some lingerie and taking a moment for self love is how we will all stay sane.
