All too often I hear clients and women I meet list a myriad of reasons they can’t do boudoir. I call bullshit. Boudoir isn’t reserved for just one type of person; it’s for everyone: married, unmarried, 25, 65, girly, tomboy, mom, not a mom, everyone. We’re all worthy of feeling pretty and honoring what makes us stand out in a crowded room, be that something obvious or something that slowly unfurls the more we let people in.
And, I’ve found over the years that those that have this notion that they aren’t the boudoir type create some of the best images because they’re pushing themselves just a bit but staying true to who they are at their core. Staying true to yourself is the kind of beauty we should all hold onto because it’s the kind that stands the test of time and that, when we look at an image, it’s that beauty that we see resonating back at us.
So here’s to all the women I am lucky enough to work with that step outside what society tells them they are and that choose to celebrate themselves through elegant intimate portraits.
