This last year, having a room dedicated to boudoir has been incredible! Not only am I able to offer TT and White Sheet sessions in addition to my Signature Outdoor boudoir, I finally have a proper space to show off the Lilac & Fern Closet. In fact, this entire session was shot using only pieces from that closet. The Petunia chemise from Else is one of the most popular items in that closet and, later this week, I’m expecting a shipment of some more Else for upcoming sessions. I bought the floral short set by Flora Nikrooz at Satin Camisole in Old Town. And that little black romper was an H&M sale bin find. And the Zinke bralette was a crazy sale find!
I love sharing my passion for well-made lingerie and some unexpected sale bin scores with you through the option to borrow from the Lilac & Fern Closet. It costs you nothing extra but can give you the chance to try something new or introduce you to a designer not carried in stores around here. Because let’s be real, we’re in the middle of the country, not exactly a fashion hot spot so it can be tough to think outside the big box stores for what very well may be the most important layer of clothing we wear. At the same time, and we need to remember this and share it more often, we’re lucky to live in a city that has a few shops that carry pieces for shoots.
Supporting these local businesses is my jam and that’s why I choose to shop in person at both Satin Camisole and Mystique, but also why I head directly to the websites of designers that I love whose pieces aren’t yet in the shops around here, like Else and Fortnight. I honestly couldn’t imagine my closet without lingerie by some of the industry’s best designers so, when I shop, I shop locally or through the designers directly.
