Before I met Nicole I had never really considered that lingerie wasn’t just meant for the *bedroom.* My relationship with lingerie has changed so much over the last two years. I used to think that it was only ever meant to be worn for someone else’s viewing pleasure. That simply isn’t the case, and it serves a much deeper purpose.
I’ll never forget the first thing I ever ordered in the lingerie department; a red slip from Victoria’s Secret. A birthday gift for the mister. All of this now makes me cringe LOL. When I opened it, it was nothing like I expected. Super thin material and a wrinkled mess. My first thought was I’m supposed to feel “sexy” in this? Of course, I tried it on and it didn’t fit well at all. Also, I remember thinking the material is so thin you can literally see my nipples through it. HA now look at me, all about freeing the nipple!
Needless to say that lingerie didn’t make me feel “sexy”, anything but really. And I never wore it. For a long time, I thought well if I don’t love the bare image of myself maybe if I cover it in pretty things I will love myself more. WRONG. You will still see the things that you don’t like; the rolls, cellulite, scars and any other insecurities. You have to put the hard work in and learn to love your body first.
Today, I use lingerie as a way to not only “treat yo self” but to feel like a fucking queen. It’s given me instant confidence boosts when needed, and makes me want to dance around the house in pretty things 24/7. I don’t wear anything for anyone but myself! Pretty liberating if you ask me.
There’s something said to for quality over quantity, a pricy lesson to learn but so worth it. Once I made the plunge and bought some pieces from Else, I’m never turning back. The shipping was insanely quick, two days from Turkey!! The packaging was cute AF, and the colors and material were just so dreamy. They fit like a glove and don’t lose shape or color after a proper wash with delicate lingerie soap. But again even with the finest of lingerie, you must love what’s underneath first.
