Colorado Intimate Portraits | Lady K’s River Experience
“Sorry!” “Oops! Sorry about that!”
I hear it all too often. And rarely is it for something that truly justifies an apology.
Until recently, I did it all the time, too! I even apologized when I had done nothing worthy of an apology. By contrast, my mister never apologizes. Like ever. Not even when he really probably should. (But that’s a story for another day.)
My point is, as women, we often take the apology route for big things, small things, and everything in between and we usually don’t have a valid reason to do so. Because we’ve been conditioned to take up less space, speak up less, and just be less. We’re expected to apologize basically for existing.
This last year or so though, has found so many of us fed up with being pushed down and stifled. Many have found freedom in speaking up and speaking out about some really fucking important issues. And it’s incredibly inspiring.
That’s it. I have nothing more to say. Just that seeing so many of the women I know speaking up when things aren’t right is some of the best inspiration out there.
And I hope we all take that boldness with us everywhere we go. Including our inner dialogue because if you don’t speak up against the negative self-talk, who will?
