Each April, I like to reflect on the previous 12 months and highlight the lessons learned and re-evaluate my goals. This year there was no shortage of observations and of updated goals, and each has had ample time to ferment and really sink in.
So, here I am, 37. That’s almost 40. And the lessons keep showing up. Reminders, really, to keep moving forward and hold close the folk that make each day more fun and, most importantly to remember that I am not required to set myself on fire to keep others warm. I’m just not. And I’ve had a few tests this year that left me feeling like an asshole until I realize that I have already spent too long accommodating everyone else and pushing my own needs aside. And, to be the best mom, wife, and business-owner, I had to start setting boundaries and honoring myself. Basically practicing what I preach.
I also made the very big decision to actually make Antarctica a priority and not a some day I’ll get there item. I’m going. I never really thought it was possible. But, fuck it, just deciding to go in the Antarctic summer of 2023 has opened so many doors. To help make it happen, I’ve been taking on odd jobs and am open to whatever comes my way.
