First, let’s take some time to admire the beauty that is Lady J. Then, please take a moment today to list three things you love about you that aren’t physical and three things that are. Read it each day and each night for a week and see how it affects you.
My reason? Aside from the amazing conversations that filled this weekend in Idaho with the most marvelous women is because I’m a mom, as many of you know, with two boys. Eleven and seven. And being a survivor of anorexia, I take self love very seriously. So when I heard my youngest say he didn’t like his face. (I know, I know! He is literally one of the most handsome people I know. BOTH of my kiddos are. And, yeah, I’m that mom!)
Anyhow, he said he didn’t like his face so I made him list three things he loved about himself that aren’t physical and three that are. And he hemmed and hawed a bit but he did it. And I listed a bunch of things I adore about him. It changed his vibe and I now resolve to do it more and more because, even during the pandemic when we all are staying home so much, we still deal with media that profits from us ALL not liking what we see in the mirror.
And the best way to say fuck off to a society that profits off our self-hatred is to love ourselves and each other extra!
