Well there you have it— My first SIGNATURE OUTDOOR shoot is officially in the books!
The experience is one to write home about (or blog about, I should say) but I think you readers would benefit from a breakdown of what expect. As a serial boudoir shoot booker, I am happy to share what keeps me in the ring.
Keep reading for my list of “What To Expect” when preparing for your outdoor shoot with Nicole.
1. Take some time the week before plan your wearable pieces. Sometimes the lingerie you think you’d like indoors doesn’t fare well outdoors. Expect mud, bugs, and always water. (Be sure to ask Nicole about the L&F closet.. nothing beats it.)
2. Research poses! I know it seems silly, put practicing in the mirror helps you master some of those otherwise unnatural contortions. And the confidence boost will help you on Shoot day! Nicole is great at walking you through the the positions in an organic way— but a little prep never hurt.
3. RELAX. This is something I had to remind myself of. The excitement of the day-of is a lot! Just trust the process, and know that you’re working with a professional.
4. Be On Time. Your Signature Outdoor comes with a full hair + makeup appointment, and being on time to the salon is critical. There’s a whole lot of cooks in your sexy kitchen, so please keep in mind their time is precious.
5. Bring a towel, bug spray, and wear SPF! Your shoot could last upwards of an hour, and the elements aren’t always kind to our skin. Sun protection and a bit of bug spray is ideal. The towel will help keep you discreet (if that’s your thing) should a random passerby appear. And if you bring it into the water, it will help buffer your knees from the rocky bottoms of the waterways. *trust me here.
6. Don’t forget to laugh. It’s so easy to get in our heads but nothing is sexier than comfort and joy. Bring that energy, that YOU energy to the shoot. The more you’re living each moment to the fullest, the better time you’ll have and man, the magic really starts between you and your photographer, once your spirits are elevated.
