Boise, Idaho Intimate Portraits | Lady J

Leading up to my first ambassador shoot with L&F I had a mixture of emotions. Nervous because I overthink everything. Anxious because others might not like my physical form. Excitement because I usually prefer to be naked. And really ready to be in front of the camera again! I’ve always pushed my creative side; painting, sculpting, performing, and loving it. An intimate shoot with L&F pushes me out of my comfort zone without stepping over boundaries, most importantly fulfills a deep need in me to Make Art.

Preparing for the experience was a fun excuse to pamper myself. Maybe purchase that body suit I had my eye on, or find inspiration in non-lingerie choices by looking at past work. A couple days before seeing Nicole I got better at reminding myself to do small everyday acts of self love: drinking water, taking a long bath with skin softening oils, and giving my poor skin the hydration it should be given more regularly. I really appreciate that even before the physical shoot I was being reminded to take care of myself by the loving community that has come out of Lilac & Fern.

The day of my appointment with Nicole, Boise woke to a fresh blanket of snow. The magic of the soft flakes was reflected in Nicole’s excitement to get started. I laid out all the pieces I had brought on the bed; outfit ideas, panties I loved, and a crazy seafoam green body harness.  I quickly realized that making choices on where to start is not easy. Nicole could see my uncertainty and stepped in to sort through the chaos that was my wardrobe. Having a photographer that so immediately got my vibe, that can give directions is so important to me. I feel safe and lovely in front of Nicole’s lens.

I had two friends with me at Studio Taft the day of the shoot and I honestly can’t recommend it enough. Being surrounded by other creatives and chatting with them off and on throughout the shoot was the highlight of my day. Now as I look back at my gallery and see ME. Natural body hair, freckles, stretch marks, and a poochy tummy that I earned from battling my own body to bring my child into this world. Lilac & Fern provides me with a powerful tool, photos that help me silence the hateful voices in my head and instead rejoice in a body that has brought me so much joy. Thank you Nicole.
