Boise Business Spotlight | Revel Skin Therapy
Boise has a fantastic network of women, pulled together by Collab Over Competition. It was through a Collab event, hosted by No Filer Aesthetics, that Nita of Revel Skin and I met and it’s been really fun following her journey and getting to know her more. The work she does, the energy she shares with the world, and her knowledge sets her apart and, in this time of uncertainty, what better way to show support than feature her here for you!
What do you do at Revel Skin Therapy?
I am a licensed esthetician and it’s the perfect job for me. I offer are facials, dermaplaning, microneedling, custom brow shaping tinting & waxing, lash lifts & tints, and full body waxing.
How did you get started in skin care?
After spending years tending to my kids, they were getting older and I was so ready to pursue something for me. You know that pull to get to know yourself again? I started out doing lashes, and graduated last April from Oliver Finley. As much as I love skincare, it’s a vehicle for what excites me most- creating memorable experiences and building great relationships with my clients.
Biggest struggle with the situation?
I am very much an optimist, I am certain my family and business will weather this. My biggest struggle is thinking about the kids and families who are in dire situations. Domestic violence is on the rise, and we are expecting parents to educate their kids when stress is already high. It’s a bad combination. Parents don’t need more stress, they need less. Kids need to feel safe and not pressured to keep up with school.
How to support Revel right now
I have a hard time answering this because there are businesses & causes who need it more. So first consider donating to a women’s shelter, or a food bank. After that, I love social media follows, story shares, engagement on social media. Gift card purchases are great. I can do virtual skin care consults and order product to your door as well.
Something good that has come out of this situation
The earth is probably the biggest benefactor. I think I need distance from this to see more than that.
What is one tip to help people while at home?
While in quarantine, keep washing your face twice a day. Our skin collects all kids of dirt even at home. Change your pillow case a couple times a week, more if you’ve been sick and sweaty.
If you have chapped lips, wet them and use your toothbrush in circular motions to exfoliate them. Bonus this gives a temporary blushing and look of fullness! Great for quarantine selfies.
